| CAMPUS SUMMARY |
 |
Goshen College, established in 1894, is rooted in the historic peace tradition of the Anabaptist-Mennonite faith, and is known for leadership in international education, service and issues of peace and justice. Recognized for educational excellence and value, Goshen helps students merge their mission with God's mission on earth. We follow the example of Christ, serving others and meeting the needs of a changing world.
Serving 1000 students from more than 30 states and 30 countries, Goshen's beautiful campus can be as close as you want or as far away as you need. Located on the Elkhart River in the fertile "Michiana" area (near the Indiana-Michigan state line), Goshen College is a diverse community in a city of 30,000, located 45 minutes from South Bend and two hours from Chicago. Our campus has 18 major buildings, including a $24 million music center opening in the fall of 2002 and a new recreation-fitness center. Connected to the downtown area and to nature and recreational bike/walk trails, students easily travel to off-campus internships and voluntary service opportunites in the community. Goshen operates a marine biology facility in the Florida Keys and Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center, a nature sanctuary, located 45 minutes south of campus and offering a wealth of habitats. Our international connections are many, with host countries for our unique Study-Service Term including Dominican Republic, China, Cuba, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Germany and Ivory Coast. |

| UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS |
 |
Goshen College offers 70 programs of study with a liberal arts foundation designed to equip you with strong communication skills, the ability to adapt and succeed in diverse workplaces and an understanding of our increasingly interconnected world. We encourage hands on learning, offering internships and service opportunities to all students, as well as conflict mediation training. Goshen was one of the first colleges in the U.S. to require international education as part of the core curriculum, and to introduce a semester abroad - Study-Service Term - that includes study and service while living with a host family in another culture. Around 85% of students choose SST, though on-campus courses and other options are available.
The strength of our academic programs is evident in the success of our graduates. Goshen ranks in the top sixth of U.S. colleges for alumni who go on to earn a PhD. GC students are accepted into medical school at twice the national average. English majors score in the top 1% on the Educational Testing Service exam. Accounting majors pass the CPA exam at a rate of three times the national average. Nursing, education and social work majors regularly score above average on state licensure exams. Faculty mentoring, hands-on learning and international education experiences all contribute to strong resumes for Goshen College students, who have the opportunity to interact with employers at our online job bank while they are students and after graduation. |
